Taking into account the geography and climate of the region, real efforts were made at that time to change some natural phenomena, namely rainy periods and the relief of the terrain, plan covered by equatorial forest. This climate only allowed an annual rice harvest in the time of the monsoons. The intervention resorted to large dams, making it possible to supply water beyond this time of year. In this way it was possible to harvest two annual crops doubling food production. The first advance came from transplants sown in nurseries, the second fruit of the plantation, just before the first harvest on the same land. With this the Khmers could double the agricultural production and livestock, key point of its development. Noteworthy was the solution found for the construction of these large water reservoirs in a near-flat jungle, dams of small height and great extent that kept the jungle almost intact, storing large amounts of water during the rains in the monsoons, which irrigated the agricultural fields Adjacent immediately below. Despite all the benefits of the invasion, the Thais felt dominated to the point of leading a governor to revolt. This case remained circumscribed to the region, but it did not fail to open precedents that culminated later in the formation of two kingdoms. Its capitals, located north of Thailand, are now called Kingdom Chiang Mai and Kingdom Sukhothai. In the stone pillars of the central square in Sukhothai, capital of 1238 to 1408, we can still read today accounts of battles fought against inhabitants of neighboring villages, often requiring the intervention of soldiers who resorted to the use of swords, Lances and even the body itself. The blows used were kicks, knees, punches and elbows, reminiscent of what we know today as a sport. In peacetime the boys in Sukhothai practiced muay thai to improve character and train self-defense in the expectation that they might be useful if they were called to the army. Muay Thai practice became popular at that time, and training centers opened throughout the city. The Samakorn training center in Lopburi was one of the best known. Others still functioned in temples trained by monks. During this period muay thai was considered a noble art, having even been practiced by royalty. It aimed to create fearless warriors and good physical condition. The first king of Sukhothai, Phokhun Sri In Tharatit was a believer in the benefits of muay thai. His two sons were athletes at the Samakorn training center. In his opinion, to know this art was one of the first conditions for one day to be able to lead.
