On January 26, 1995, he joined the Portuguese Sports Confederation and in 1996 the official recognition of the federation came into being, with the attribution of the Sports Public Utility Institution, a stimulus that accelerated the development and growth of national kickboxing. In that same year the modality was recognized by the Portuguese Olympic Committee, being thus Portugal, one of the first countries where the kickboxing was recognized by the Olympic movement. In 1998, the National Arbitration and Competition Regulations were approved and in 1999 anti-doping control became part of the regulation. In 2002 the federation changed its designation to Portuguese Federation of Kickboxing and in 2006, a new revision of the statutes again, being denominated Portuguese Federation of Kickboxing and Muay Thai. From then on the modality acquires a different dynamic and events such as: The European Seniors Championship of 1994, the Junior World Championship of 1999, the Senior World Championship of 2006, took place in Lisbon.
